Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of supplementation of papaya extract (Carica papaya L) in the drinking water on broiler performance. Conducted in January-February 2015 in the Department of Plantation and Animal Husbandry Padangsidimpuan. The design used was completely randomized design (CRD) factorial by 2 factors: Factor is based on the provision of potable water extract of papaya leaves boiled (R) consists of three levels ie: R0: Ransun basal plus drinking water without the addition of extracts of papaya leaves, R1: Rations basal plus 2 ml papaya extract / 1L water, R2: basal diet plus 5 ml papaya extract / 1L water minum.Faktor based provision of drinking water without boiling papaya leaf extract (T) consists of three levels ie: T0: basal Ransun plus drinking water without the addition of papaya leaf extract, T1: basal diet plus 2 ml papaya extract / 1L water, T2: basal diet plus 5 ml papaya extract / 1L observed minum.Parameter water is drinking water consumption, feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. Based on the research that has been conducted shows that on average the combination treatment of the provision of drinking water extract of papaya leaves boiled and treatment provision of potable water extract of leaves of papaya without boiling the best there is in treatment gives a significant influence on the parameters of drinking water consumption, body weight gain and conversion ration. As for the parameters feed intake does not give real influence.
