Abstract

Goats originating from smallholder farms are being developed in an area and have developed through natural selection and then adapted to the environment. This research aims to analyze the productivity of production which leads to the development of human resources as the main actor. The research was conducted in Angkola Timur Subdistrict, South Tapanuli Regency from March to June 2020. The research method used a survey with a purposive sampling technique, based on the criteria of breeders having 2-3 animals. They are located in the villages of Sijungkang, Pargarutan Dolok, Pargarutan Julu, Pargarutan Market, Pargarutan Jae and Panompuan Jae. Descriptive statistical data analysis by grouping, as well as the presentation of the data frequency distribution table and Likert scale. Statistical analysis using Rank Spearman test. The results show that the closeness of the relationship between farmer characteristics and productivity through age, education level and length of farming affects the productivity of smallholder scale (local) farms. The improvement of the quality of nurseries from feed, housing, and extension services is part of a program system based on a group breeding scheme. The need for increased human resources through guidance and counseling, the government's efforts to protect local goat farms.
