PENINGKATAN KUALITAS KULIT BUAH NAGA (Hylocereus polyrhizus) MELALUI FERMENTASI DENGAN Neurospora crassa SEBAGAI PAKAN TERNAK
Abstract
The supply of poultry feed in Indonesia is currently experiencing problems, due to the high price of the components of the feed compiler that are still imported. In this regard, it is necessary to find alternative feed ingredients that are more economically efficient and able to increase the growth and productivity of poultry. One alternative that can be done is by utilizing waste, both agricultural and livestock waste. Dragon fruit skin is one example of agricultural waste that is worth trying as a mixture of quail rations because of its various potentials and advantages. This study aims to determine the effect of fermentation of dragon fruit peel with fungi Neurospora crassa (Nc) on changes in nutrient content. This research method was an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, namely treatment A = Fermentation of dragon fruit peel with Nc mold for 0 days, B = Fermentation of dragon fruit peel with Nc mold for 4 days, C = skin fermentation dragon fruit with Nc mold for 6 days, D = Fermentation of dragon fruit skin with Nc mold for 8 days, and E = Fermentation of dragon fruit skin with Nc mold for 10 days. The results showed that the fermentation time of dragon fruit peel with Nc mold gave a very significant effect (P <0.01) on changes in the content of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat and gross energy. The conclusion of this study is the fermented dragon skin for 6 days with mold Nc (treatment C) is the best fermentation time. In this condition, the highest crude protein content was 9.97%, the lowest crude fiber content was 18.34%, dry matter content was 95.015%, and gross energy was 3178.28 Kcal / Kg
