Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent of the influence of the use of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type cooperative learning model on science learning outcomes in class IX electricity statistics at SMP Negeri 3 Batahan. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method designed in a one group pretest posttest design model by conducting experiments in only one class without any comparison class. The population in this study were all class IX students of SMP Negeri 3 Batahan, consisting of 1 class containing 15 students. The sample for this research was class IX, totaling 15 people who were determined using the saturated sample method. This research instrument is a test type in the form of multiple choices, totaling 20 questions. Student learning outcomes before using the STAD type cooperative learning model reached an average value of 62.33, while student learning outcomes increased after using the STAD type cooperative learning model reaching an average value of 71. Based on the results of the hypothesis test carried out, tcount was obtained. = 9.527, while at the 5% significance level with dk = N – 1 = 15 – 1 = 14, ttable = 1.76. Thus it can be seen that tcount is greater than ttable (9.527  1.76). This shows that the accepted hypothesis is accepted or approved as correct, meaning that there is a significant influence between the use of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type cooperative learning model on the science learning outcomes of the main subject of electricity statistics in class IX at SMP Negeri 3 Batahan.
