Abstract

This research started from problems in social studies learning in class IV SD Negeri 197 Simpang Tolang where most of the students had difficulty understanding the learning material, so that the learning outcomes obtained by students were also low. Therefore, to improve student learning outcomes in social studies learning, the STAD type cooperative learning model is applied to the fourth grade students of SD Negeri 197 Simpang Tolang. This research is a classroom action research using a qualitative approach. This research was conducted on fourth grade students of SD Negeri 197 Simpang Tolang. The instrument used to collect data is in the form of observation sheets, documentation and learning outcomes tests. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. This research was carried out in two cycles and each cycle consisted of one meeting. The results of each cycle that have been carried out using the STAD type cooperative learning model show an increase in both the learning process and student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the achievement of students in learning, where in the first cycle the average value obtained by students only reached 60% completeness with an average student score of 68.48, while in the second cycle showed a fairly high increase with an average score. 80 students with completeness reaching 84%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the STAD type cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes in social studies learning in class IV SD Negeri 197 Simpang Tolang.
