PERSONALITY CHANGE OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN JOKER 2019 MOVIE SCRIPT

Abstract

This research analyzed the movie script of the 2019 Joker movie, which was written by Todd Philips and Scott Silver. The main topic in this research was personality changes in the main character of the movie. There were two objectives of this research. First, to determine the personality changes that occur in the main character. Second, to find out the causal factor of personality changes. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The data were obtained from the main characters in the Joker movie and other sources related to the formulation of the problem. Data were analyzed from the attitudes, behaviors, and events experienced by Arthur Fleck using the theory of Elizabeth Bergner Hurlock. According to the findings of this study, personality changes in Arthur Fleck were caused by three factors. The first is the Physical damage experienced, the second is environmental factors and the third is important people. The crimes committed by Arthur Fleck were unjustifiable, but his actions are supported by those who surround him.
