A CORELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ COMPLEX SENTENCES MASTERY AND THEIR LISTENING COMPREHENSION (A STUDY AT THE XI GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 2 PANYABUNGAN)

Abstract

The aims of the research is to know Is there any significant corelation between students’ complex sentences mastery and their listening comprehension (A Study at the XI Grade Students of SMA Negeri 2 Panyabungan). In this research, the writer uses the descriptive method. the population this research is all of on the Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Panyabungan  in 2016/2017 in Academic Years. The whole Grade XI students consist of 7 classes, and total population are 214 students. The writer taken 16% from population consist of 34 students for sample. The writer uses the test for the both variabel.The result of the research, as follows. The complex sentence is categorized into “good” category. It is proved by the mean score of Complex Sentence test, that is 78.23. The reading comprehension of descriptive text ability is categorized into “enough” category. It is proved by the mean score of the students is reading comprehension of descriptive text ability , that is  63.82. The value of r_tableis 0,339 at 5% significant level. If it is compared to the score of r_testthat is 0,468, it can be concluded that the value of r_test is greater than the score of r_table(0.468 >  0.339). So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the students complex sentence to reading comprehension of descriptive text ability of the Eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Panyabungan.The hypothesis of the research is accepted.
