Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of population growth on people's welfare with income as an intervening variable in the city of Padangsidimpuan. The research approach method is quantitative by using secondary data. The population and sample of this study are population growth data, community welfare level data as measured by the percentage of households that have access to proper sanitation and data on Padangsidimpuan city per capita income in 2010-2019. This research data collection technique uses quantitative research methods using secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency and literature studies. In answering the research questions, the data analysis used multiple linear data regression analysis, while to test the research hypothesis, the t-test (partial), f-test (simultaneous) and the coefficient of dissemination were used.From the results of the research data analysis conducted, it was concluded that it could be stated simultaneously or together that there was a significant effect with a value of 0.0038 <0.05 from the independent variable, namely population growth with community welfare having a significant effect on income in the city of Padangsidimpuan. In addition, based on the results of the coefficient of determination test, it shows that the dependent variable is the income level of 0.38% and the side is 99.62% influenced by other factors such as inflation, education level and so on.
