Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescensL.) Is one of important vegetables in Indonesia. In addition to having a fairly high nutritional value, chili also has a high economic value. Chilli contains many essential oils that give the taste spicy and hot. The spicy taste is caused by a very high content of capsaicin (C18H27NO3). Chili fruit contains vitamin A and C. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer dosage on growth and production of some varieties of cayenne pepper (C. frutescen). This research was conducted in Sihitang Village, Southeast Padangsidimpuan Subdistrict, Padangsidimpuan City with altitude of place ± 260-1100 meters asl in March 2016 until July 2016. This research was conducted by using Randomized Block Design (RAK Faktorial), consisting of two treatment levels, Namely varieties of chili (V) and doses of NPK fertilizer. The results showed that the treatment of NPK fertilizer doses gave a very real effect for all observation parameters, ie plant height, number of branches per tree, number of fruit per sample and fruit weight per sample, except at plant height 1 MST. 2. The best dosage of NPK fertilizer was found in N2 treatment (7 gram / plant) and the best variety treatment was found in V2 that is Taruna variety.
