Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces in Sibolga. To know the role of Laskar Laut / Sibolga Army in maintaining the independence of Indonesia. In this study, the authors use field research methods (field research) in combination with library research (library research. Based on the research conducted, the results obtained that the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces in Sibolga is formed from Laskar Laut, BKR, TKR transformed into TRI, TNI (Tentara Nasional Indonesia). The role of Laskar Laut / Navy Sibolga in defending the Independence of Republik Indonesia is a form of struggle and sacrifice of life and property. The role of the Sibolga marine laskar was driven by a desire to defend the independence that was proclaimed on 17 August 1945. The desire to defend this independence was driven by a spirit of love of the homeland or so-called Nationalism. The political, social and economic conditions of society after the war. It is that with the end of the war maintaining independence, the life of the Sibolga and Tapanuli regions in general was again smooth and the Sibolga harbor reopened to export and import the integrity of the people.
