Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of bank credit on the progress of the micro small and medium business sector (UMKM) in South Padangsidimpuan. In this study, the method used is quantitative descriptive research, because this study aims to describe and interpret the conditions or relationships that exist, opinions that develop, the process that is ongoing, the effects or effects that occur, or about the ongoing trends about credit that is ongoing very important role in improving the progress of the MSME sector. The sample taken was 20 MSME entrepreneurs who used capital from bank loans. Data collection was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires directly to owners of micro small and medium enterprises in the District of Padangsidimpuan Tenggara. To state whether or not there is an influence between variable X and Y, the researcher uses Pearson product moment correlation analysis. Bank loans affect the progress of the micro small and medium business sector. This is explained by the correlation coefficient of 0.74. When compared with the correlation interpretation table it is known that this value falls into the "strong" category. Thus it means that the hypothesis formulated in this study can be accepted as truth or in other words the hypothesis that has been said before that there is a significant influence of the independent variable (bank credit) on the dependent variable (progress of the MSME sector) is true. The progress of the micro small and medium business sector is inseparable with the support of sufficient sources of capital. Lack of capital for entrepreneurs, especially small and medium entrepreneurs will result in the micro small and medium business sector getting worse, if this problem is not immediately solved by the government then it will not be surprised in the next five years or ten years micro and small businesses will be eliminated by businesses the greater one.
